Following the success of its opening day, Rome Fashion Week 2026 has now fully entered the heart of the event, reaffirming its role not only as a key platform for business and networking, but also as a privileged observatory on the evolving trends of international occasionwear.
Across the hall of Fiera di Roma, buyers and industry professionals from numerous markets are discovering the 2027 collections, helping to identify the first clear signals of a sector increasingly shaped by personalisation, individuality and self-expression.
If there is one word that defines the proposals on show, it is undoubtedly *variety*. The collections reflect different sensibilities, influenced both by their target markets and by the diverse style cultures that coexist within the event. On one side, Made in Italy continues to stand out for the quality of its fabrics, manufacturing research and a vision of occasionwear that follows the body with elegance and natural ease, often through romantic, almost fairytale atmospheres. On the other, international proposals bring to the stage a more spectacular language, made of precious applications, luminous embroideries, glitter, transparencies and scenic constructions capable of interpreting a more glamorous and luxurious vision of the special occasion.
Colour is also emerging as one of the strongest themes of the season. Alongside the traditional pastel tones that have always defined occasionwear, a bolder and more vibrant palette is gaining ground, especially in collections dedicated to the key figures surrounding the most important events: mothers of the bride, witnesses and special guests. Intense, luminous shades become tools to express presence, character and personality.
Another recurring element across many of the collections is the search for uniqueness. The dress is no longer chosen only according to the event itself, but becomes a reflection of the personal style of the woman who wears it. Excess is not always necessary: a distinctive accessory, a belt, a jewelled buckle, a special workmanship or an unexpected detail can be enough to make a look truly unique. The real objective is not to transform oneself, but to use fashion as a means of self-expression.
Femininity also returns to the forefront with a new awareness. Silhouettes that enhance the body, delicate transparencies, sartorial constructions and couture details speak of a woman who remains demanding in her choices, and who today expresses this desire with greater freedom and confidence.
“Among the trends we are observing, three key words clearly stand out: colour, joy and lightness,” says Valentina Mazzoni, Sales Manager of Rome Fashion Week. “The presence of exhibitors from different markets allows us to capture very diverse nuances and interpretations of contemporary occasionwear. Each brand brings its own creative DNA, contributing to a rich, dynamic and truly international landscape.”
As business meetings continue and buyers keep visiting the stands, Rome Fashion Week confirms its ability to read and anticipate the transformations of the sector, offering a concrete snapshot of what will shape the occasionwear market in the coming months.
We look forward to welcoming you again today until 5:00 PM.
Please remember that access to the fair is reserved exclusively for buyers and retailers from the sector. Pre-registration is required to ensure faster entry to the venue and skip the queue. At the entrance, you will be able to show your QR Code directly from your smartphone.
